Whitewater school board member killed in one-car crash

— Stephen J. Lamsam, vice president of the Whitewater Unified School District Board of Education, died Thursday after his car crashed into a power pole.

Lamsam was traveling west on County Highway A about ¼ mile east of Peck Station Road shortly before 9 p.m. when he went off the roadway, overcorrected and went into the opposite ditch, striking the power pole, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

Lamsam sustained sever injuries, according to the release, and was pronounced dead at the scene. A cause of death is yet to be determined.

Lamsam was in the second year of his third term on the Whitewater school board, having been re-elected in April 2008.

So sorry to hear of the Lamsam's loss of Steve. He was a wonderful person and will be missed!!!
