WILLIAMS BAY Rep. Tom Lothian has announced his retirement from the state Assembly.
"I have always humbly accepted my constituents' trust, and while they may not have always agreed with me, I will leave office with my head held high knowing I always did what I felt in my heart to be right," he said in a press release.
Lothian, R-Williams Bay, has served four consecutive terms in the state Assembly. He was elected to represent the 32nd District in 2002.
Republican Dan Necci, 30, an attorney who lives in Delavan and recently opened his own practice in Lake Geneva, and Democrat Doug Harrod, 64, a health teacher at Badger High School in Lake Geneva, have filed declarations to run for the 32nd District seat.
"During my time in the Assembly, I have fought for fiscal responsibility, personal freedoms and lowering taxes," he said in the release. "Those basic principles have always been important to our community, and I have made them my highest priority since the day I first took office. I am proud of the work I have accomplished and have always tried to lead by example."

Tom dedicated his life to service; while as a teacher, county board supervisor and then in the assembly. Many thanks to Tom for his efforts on behalf of the taxpayers of the 32nd and I wish him all the best in his retirement.

Tom had a good run in the Assembly and evolved from being just a pompous duck slayer to an astonishing obvious snob. I'm glad he can retire. Now he wont have to drive 80 miles to nap on the taxpayers dime.
