TWIN LAKES -- The closure late last month of 22 adult group homes operated by Anthony Goodall of Twin Lakes has forced the relocation of residents and has former employees scrambling for their final paychecks.

Community Care in Milwaukee, contracted by the State of Wisconsin to provide family care and programs for mentally ill and disabled adults, subcontracted with Goodall, who provided housing and care at 22 homes in Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties.

Dozens of people employed by the business showed up Tuesday to receive their last, or next-to-last, paychecks, some with doubts that they would be able to cash them, according to the Kenosha News.

All 22 adult group homes operated by Anthony Goodall in Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties closed suddenly at the end of February, leaving 77 unemployed. All of the facilities’ residents were relocated to other group homes or state-run institutions as of last week.

The following is the comment in the Kenosha News from an employee left in the lurch:

"Mr. Goodall and partner Kelly left town in a loaded truck on or about Feb 20, like thieves in the night, without telling anyone nor would they answer their phones. In reality, they abandoned their clients and employees, which took several days to discover the truth. Thank God for Anita Eisenhaur who picked up the pieces of this travesty, and made it her personal goal to get all clients placed and employees paid, despite the extreme emotional stress she went through. To think that these two owners could be so heartless is simply unforgiveable."
