WILLIAMS BAY After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Dustin Scholz of Williams Bay wanted to stand out in his job hunt.
Stand out on the street with a sandwich board, that is.
Scholz took to the streets of downtown Milwaukee in early December, wearing a hand-written sandwich board that read, "job wanted."
His efforts apparently were successful.
The Journal Sentinel's Jim Stingl reports that Scholz started Monday in a sales job at Veolia Environmental Services, which deals in trash pickup, recycling and such. The 25-year-old go-getter will commute to Muskego.
Scholz graduated from UW-Whitewater in May, and was unable to find a full-time job.
He says he sent out about 100 resumes within the first week of graduating, but little came of it.
But his stunt began to attract some media attention (video), and before he knew it, he says he had about 30 serious interviews.
He says he decided to go the routafter seeing video of a guy in London doing it. At one point, he was handing out about 10 resumes an hour.

Just one bit of advice for college students. Be careful what major you pick. If you want a better chance of finding a job after graduation pick a specific major such as accounting, education, chemistry, engineering, etc. Picking a major such as communication, psychology, etc. will leave you with options such graduate school for further education or getting into sales but the jobs are hard to find. Just having a college education will not be the answer to your dreams. So plan ahead for what you want to do when you get out and find out what is required for that job you want, before deciding on a major.
