Jefferson rallies past Whitewater, other scores

Jefferson High mounted a huge fourth quarter to post a 46-45, come-from-behind victory over Whitewater in a Rock Valley North boys basketball makeup game Monday night.


The host Whippets led 28-14 at the half and 41-30 after three quarters. But the Eagles turned it around with a 16-4 final period.


Tyler Tomczak’s layup with four seconds left gave Jefferson (3-9, 2-7) the victory. Tomczak had a team-high 15 points.


Tony Bilderbeck scored 17 for Whitewater (5-9, 3-6).

-- Monroe 67, Elkhorn 60—Monroe made nine of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter to lock up a nonconference win at Elkhorn.


In bouncing from a 66-53 loss to Waunakee in the Badger Conference Challenge, the Cheesemakers improved to 10-2. Elkhorn (6-7) suffered its seventh loss in eight games.


Bryan Tordoff ended the third quarter with a three-point goal to give Monroe a 48-40 advantage.


Tordoff scored 22 points, including four of Monroe’s six three-point goals. Kevin Frint had 15 points for Monroe.


Skyler O’Laughlin and Cole Hassler, Elkhorn’s 6-11 and 6-6 inside punch, had 15 and 14 points, respectively. Brock Poggensee added 11.

-- East Troy 74, Oregon 61—East Troy (10-3) drilled the Panthers (3-9) with 12 three-point goals en route to a nonconference win at Oregon.


Nathan Dodge had half of East Troy’s three-pointers in scoring 20 points. Tanner Plomb also had 20 points for the Rock Valley North leaders, and Scot Beckwith added 11.


Oregon’s Adam Gorman scored 21 points.

-- Whitnall 64, Big Foot 41—The Chiefs had no answer for Whitnall’s Will Pelkofer in a nonconference loss to the visiting Falcons.


Pelkofer, a senior, made his first six shots and scored 15 of his game-high 24 points in the first quarter.


Alec McGreevy and Steve Dowden each scored eight points to pace Big Foot (6-8).
