Warhawk women triumph

— UW-Whitewater’s women’s basketball team got the Surf-n-Slam Tournament off to a good start Tuesday night.

The Warhawks, behind 24 points and 11 rebounds from Dana Thompson, cruised past Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) 70-55.


Whitewater (8-2) won its third straight game and will play Bethany Lutheran College (Minn.) toinight.


Leading 35-30 at half, the Warhawks went on an 11-2 run early in the second half to take control.
