East Troy boys suffer first loss

Waukesha South put a dent into the East Troy High school’s boys basketball team Thursday night.


The Blackshirts (5-3) scored 28 points in the second quarter and rolled past visiting Trojans, 75-51, in a nonconference game.


Derek Hussinger scored 16 points, Kevin Koenigs added 15, and Brad Woodford had 14 as South handed East Troy its first loss of the season. Koenigs had all his points in the second quarter on five three-point goals.


Tanner Plomb led the Trojans (7-1) with 19 points. Nate Dodge added 11 points, but East Troy fell behind 47-26 by halftime.

n Germantown 57, Middleton 56—Germantown remained undefeated, but not before host Middleton gave the Warhawks a tough nonconference test.


Zak Showalter scored 27 points to lead the Warhawks to their ninth straight victory. The 6-foot-2 junior guard had three three-pointers and made 12 free throws.


Zack Kumbier added 12 points for Germantown.


Middleton trailed by three points and made a two-point basket at the buzzer for the final margin. Center Ian Joyce had 14 points, and Connor Wipfli added 11 for the 4-3 Cardinals, who led 41-38 going into the final quarter.
