— An eighth city resident has taken out papers to run for Janesville City Council.

Deborah Dongarra-Adams joins two incumbents and five others who have announced their intentions to gather signatures to ensure a place on the April 5 ballot.

Dongarra, 49, lives at 615 Waveland Road, Janesville. She has not run for public office before, Clerk-Treasurer Jean Wulf said.

Dongarra could not be reached for comment Wednesday. The website of Land Title and Closing Services of Janesville and Beloit lists Dongarra-Adams as its operations manager.

Four seats are up for grabs in the spring elections.

Others who have taken out papers are K. Andreah Briarmoon, Paul Higginbotham, Billy McCoy, Michael Knilans, Sam Liebert and incumbents George Brunner and Russ Steeber.

Bill Truman has announced he won’t run again. Incumbent Frank Perrotto has yet to announce.

City residents who want to run for council must pick up nomination papers at City Hall, 18 N. Jackson St. They also must gather no fewer than 200 but no more than 400 signatures and file the papers by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4.
