Crayton powers Burlington win, other scores

Travis Crayton was unstoppable in the third quarter, helping Burlington High down host Elkhorn and maintain its Southern Lakes boys basketball lead.


Crayton scored 17 of his 26 points in the third quarter when the Demons (5-1, 4-0) went from being down 29-28 at halftime to a 51-40 lead en route to a 59-53 victory.


Crayton, a 6-4 senior guard, made four three-pointers in the decisive third quarter and was fouled on another three-point attempt and converted all three free throws. He finished with five three-point goals.


Eric Gerber added 11 points for the Demons, who reamin a game ahead of Union Grove.


Kyle Hoskins led the Elks (4-4, 2-2) with 15 points. Hayden Forrestal added 13, and Danny Dessent scored 13.

-- Wilmot 67, Delavan-Darien 43—The visiting Comets missed their first seven shots of the third quarter, then were victims of Wilmot’s dominating final period in a Southern Lakes loss on the Panthers’ court.


Delavan-Darien trailed only 23-19 at halftime, but it was 40-28 after three quarters.


Matt Betz had 16 points to lead four Wilmot players in double figures as the Panthers evened their conference record at 2-2.


Marcus McLin paced the Comets (0-7, 0-5) with a game-high 20 points.

Central (3-2, 2-2) broke away from a 22-19 halftime edge in a 17-9 third quarter, then withstood Badger’s 25-point final period.


Brendan Gruenwald-Schmitz led Badger (1-4, 1-3) with 15 points, while Will Simonson added 14.
