Nelson, Edgerton roll past Waterloo

Zach Nelson, an All-Rock Valley North selection last season, stepped up Monday night to help give Edgerton High’s boys basketball team a four-game winning streak.


Nelson scored 17 points, including an 11-for-13 effort on free throws, as the Crimson Tide rolled to a 42-26 nonconference victory over Waterloo and a 4-4 season record.


Edgerton pulled away from a 17-15 halftime lead with a


13-5 advantage in the third quarter.

-- Deerfield 80, Park-view 50—The host Demons (3-2) got 19 points from Tyler Schlefke and controlled every quarter for a nonconference win over Orfordville Parkview (1-6).


After his team raced to a 19-10 lead in the first quarter, Schlefke scored nine points in a 19-13 second period that extended Deerfield’s lead to 12.


Kyle Woodworth scored 23 points to lead Parkview.


Vinnie Grattafiora added 18 points for Deefield.
