Elkhorn clutch at line, other scores

Elkhorn High hit clutch free throws down the stretch for a winning start Tuesday night in Southern Lakes boys basketball.


With a 6-for-7 effort from the line when it mattered most, the Elks held on for a 48-44 victory at Wilmot.


Elkhorn scored the first seven points of the third quarter to overcome a 19-18 halftime deficit. The Elks then pulled away from 37-37 tie in the last six minutes.


Ryan Bowes made all four of his free throws in the fourth quarter and led Elkhorn (3-1) with 22 points. Grant Dull had 16 points for Wilmot.
