LAKE GENEVA — The 48th annual Venetian Festival begins today (Aug. 18) and runs through Sunday in Lake Geneva’s picturesque Flat Iron Park along the shores of Geneva Lake. The five-day festival, sponsored by the Lake Geneva Jaycees, will feature a carnival, craft fair, musical entertainment, water ski show, and a lighted boat parade culminating in a fireworks display.
“Families from all over southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois have been visiting Lake Geneva for years to take part in the fun and excitement that the festival brings to town,” said Matt Stinebrink, Venetian Festival chairman.
“Each year we see more and more visitors enjoying the music, carnival, boat parade, fireworks and the many attractions the Lake Geneva area has to offer. And we’re anticipating greater attendance this year due to the cancellation of Chicago’s Venetian Festival.”
In conjunction with Venetian Festival, a craft fair will be held at Library Park on Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 21-22).
Special wristband carnival ride discount days will be held during the festival and musical entertainment will be featured each day of the celebration.
According to Stinebrink, the Wonder Lake Water Ski Club show, lighted boat parade and fireworks are a fitting conclusion to Venetian Festival.
“Seeing the thousands of smiling faces lining the Geneva Lake shoreline makes all the hard work an afterthought,” he said.
The ski show begins Sunday at 6 p.m.

Great. Another several evenings when LGPD will be over zealous in the arrests of anyone but Lake Geneva residents.
