Jayme Manriquez, one of Walworth County's most-wanted fugitives, is back in the Walworth County Jail.

ELKHORN -- A Delavan man on the run since 2004 when he failed to appear in court on an attempted homicide charge is back in the Walworth County Jail.

U.S. authorities extradited Jayme Manriquez from Mexico, and he was confined to the jail Tuesday, according to a news release from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.

Manriquez was considered one of Walworth County's most-wanted fugitives since he jumped bail and failed to appear for a court hearing in 2004.

He is charged with first degree attempted homicide, first degree reckless injury and felony bail jumping, according to the sheriff's office.

Manriquez was charged for allegedly being part of an attack Sept. 21, 2003 where he and two other men beat another man with a baseball bat and a metal rod at the victim's Delavan residence.

One of the other attackers, Jose F. Gomez, was sentenced in 2006 to 9 ½ years in prison for his role in the attack. Gomez took part in the beating by kicking the man in the face.

Police arrested Manriquez, Gomez, Renato Aranda and Santos Moronez Jr. for the attack.

Moronez pleaded guilty to felony aggravated battery and spent a year in jail.

Co-defendant Renato Aranda, 27, of Delavan was sentenced in August 2008 to one year in jail and seven years probation.

The Delavan Police Department, The Walworth County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshals service worked with Mexican authorities to locate Manriquez, according to a news release. Manriquez was arrested in Mexico in August of 2009.
