Vendors ready for new season of Janesville's Farmers Market

JANESVILLE Sue Ludwig can’t wait to show off her handmade wreaths at this year’s Janesville Farmers Market.
Ludwig, who calls herself “the wreath lady,” transferred to the General Motors plant in Orion, Mich., a year and a half ago so she could complete her 30 years and retire. She returned home in December.
“I was offered an early retirement and took it so I could come back home,” the Milton resident said. “I’m loving every day being home and retired from GM.”
Ludwig makes wreaths out of grapevine and is planning to sell them in a variety of sizes at this year’s market, which starts May 8.
“I’ve always been interested in crafting and art,” Ludwig said. “It’s just one thing that, without picking up the paintbrush, I can create something different every time.”
Manager Teri Huber said this year’s farmers market will feature new faces among the nearly 80 vendors who bring locally grown produce, meat and other goods to downtown Janesville every Saturday morning through October.
This year's season begins May 8, 2010 in the 100 and 200 blocks of North Main Street, Janesville.
