— Kenosha police are warning residents that a recent e-mail that appears to be from their department is a fake.

The e-mail has the subject line "Fwd: Kenosha Police Safety Warning,” and contains a message about gang-threat activity, according to a news release from Kenosha Police Chief John Morrissey.

The e-mail includes a version of a widely discredited story about gangs using car seats to lure unsuspecting women from their cars.

Kenosha police direct residents to the fact-checking web site, Snopes. www.snopes.com/crime/gangs/carseat.asp

Police ask that residents who receive suspicious emails or want to verify the validity to contact the Kenosah Police Department Crime Prevention Officer.

Why would they even do this? Gangs don't exist to attack random strangers, they exist to protect turf and each other from rival gangs. Not to mention the preposterous idea that all gangs would jointly celebrate something. They mostly hate each other.
