BELOIT -- More than 60 young basketball players looked on in awe recently as the NBA’s Kyle Weaver walked into Barkin Arena at Beloit Memorial High School.
The former star at BMHS and Washington State University begins his second season this fall as a guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Returning to his hometown in the offseason to conduct the camp was a priority.
“It means a lot to (the kids) ... and it means just as much to me to be able to give back,” Weaver said. “I want to touch the younger crowd and get them excited about doing something and being around their fellow students and teammates.”
Weaver partnered with the Stateline Boys & Girls Clubs to host the camp.
