Ski hill operators welcome season's first big snowfall

— While many in Walworth County are hunkering down in anticipation of the first major snowstorm of the season, ski hill operators are celebrating.

Alpine Valley Ski Resort in East Troy is open for the season and the Mountain Top at Grand Geneva will open Saturday.

Both hills have been making snow, and will have plenty of fresh powder after the current storm blows through.

For ski conditions throughout the state, the Snow Conditions Report on the Web site of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism has current information.

The report is be updated by 125 snow-condition reporters in all 72 Wisconsin counties. The reporters can update information as often as they want, but will do so at minimum once a week.
