— There were 56 foreclosure filings in Walworth County in November, up from 45 a month earlier, a rise of 24 percent.

Those numbers bucked the trend in this part of the state, however, with filings dropping 9.4 percent overall in southeastern Wisconsin.

Decreases came in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee and Racine counties.

Kenosha, Walworth and Washington counties saw filings rise.

David Leibowitz, a foreclosure defense attorney with offices in Kenosha, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that it may take another six to nine months before foreclosure cases stabilize.

With unemployment still high and the economy far from strong, the factors that are leading to foreclosures remain in place, he said.

In Waukesha County, foreclosure filings dropped to 114 in November from 123 in October, while in Racine County they fell to 76 from 103 and in Ozaukee County to 11 from 29, according to court records.

Foreclosure filings rose to 103 in November from 102 in October in Kenosha County, and in Washington County, they inched up to 49 from 47.
