UPDATED: Manhunt under way for suspect in slashing incident

— A manhunt is under way for a suspect in a slashing incident this morning in LaGrange Township.

Police are looking for Martin J. Nelson, 22, of W6577 Kettle Moraine Drive.

According to a Walworth County Sheriff's Office news release, Nelson cut the throat of a 60-year-old man who also lives at the residence.

The victim was treated at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn and transported to Froedtert Hospital Wauwatosa, where he is listed in satisfactory condition.

The suspect fled on foot.

A coordinated search, including K-9 units and ground and air support is under way at this time.

The sheriff's office placed automated telephone calls to homes in the area this morning alerting residents the the suspect is on the loose.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. He is described as 6' 2", 165 pounds, short blonde hair and blue eyes.

Anyone who sees the suspect is asked to call 911 immediately or contact the Walworth County Sheriff's Office at (262) 741-4400.
