Middleton wins Big Eight boys golf title
Top-ranked Middleton coasted to the Big Eight Conference boys golf tournament title Thursday at Evansville Golf Club.
The Cardinals finished with a team score of 314, which was 17 shots better than runner-up Beloit Memorial. Janesville Craig was sixth at 358 and Janesville Parker eighth at 367.
Kolton Kelley of Beloit Memorial, a two-time Ashenfelter Invitational winner, was medalist Thursday with a 2-over par 74. Emmet Herb of Middleton was second with a 76.
Craig's Nolan Moran finished fifth with a 79.
John Milner led Parker with an 81, which was good for eighth place.
Parker coach Bob Eicher said the Evansville course was a challenge for his team.
“Our score was a good 30 shots higher than you would expect,” Eicher said. “It's disappointing.”
Craig and Parker will play in the Beloit Scramble at Krueger-Haskell on Saturday morning. That scramble event will give teams a preview of what to expect at the WIAA Regional that will be held at Krueger-Haskell on Tuesday.
