Snappers fall to end road trip
Dylan Covey’s quality start was spoiled Saturday night.
The Beloit Snappers starting pitcher gave up two runs on five hits in six innings, but Quad Cities rallied with a pair of runs in each of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to notch a 6-2 Midwest League baseball victory.
Covey struck out four but was saddled with a no-decision. Reliever Tyler Hollstegge suffered the loss, giving up two runs in the seventh inning. He came in after the Snappers scored a run in the top half of the inning to tie the game, 2-2.
River Bandits center fielder Brett Phillips sparked a two-out rally with a double. Right fielder James Ramsay followed with a two-run single.
Beloit’s Boog Powell went 3-for-4 at the plate in the loss, which left the Snappers at 13-22 heading into an off day today. They host Kane County at 11 a.m. Monday.
