WHITEWATER—Whitewater police officers have arrested four persons in connection with a spate of thefts from vehicles around the city in April, according to a news release from the Whitewater Police Department.

Police arrested Cody R. Davis of Whitewater, Brandon F. Evans, Alexander C. Beaver, and Lupe T. Medina on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges involving burglary, theft and drug possession, according to the release.

Davis was arrested following an April 16 news release from the police department on the thefts.

Authorities said charges have been referred to the Walworth County District Attorney's Office. According to the release, additional charges may be referred in other counties.

In every complaint from residents during the string of thefts last month, the vehicles entered were unlocked, police said.

“Citizens are reminded the majority of property crimes, including the incidences in April, are committed primarily due to opportunity. Keeping car doors locked, windows shut, garages secured, and property out of plain view are ways the community can help the police department significantly reduce crime,” the release read.
