2014 Walworth County Fair a good mix

ELKHORN -- From country to rock and bucking broncos to crashing cars, Walworth County Fair officials are looking to fill the seats with the 2014 lineup of grandstand entertainment.

The 165th fair will run Aug. 27, 2014 through Sept. 1, 2014 at the fairgrounds along Wisconsin Highway 11 in Elkhorn.

The recently announced grandstand entertainment starts with the Big Hat Rodeo, a new fair feature, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014.

The traditional truck and tractor pulls by the Badger State Tractor Pullers take center stage from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014.

On Friday, Aug. 29, the grandstand entertainment turns from machines to music with headliner and country star Trace Adkins at 7:30 p.m. Adkins has sold more than 10 million albums and is known as a TV personality and actor. Some of his hits include "Songs About Me," "Ladies Love Country Boys" and "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk."

On Saturday, Aug. 30, country foursome Little Big Town takes the main stage at 7:30 p.m. The band, which recently released its fifth album, has had several Top 10 country hits, including "Boondocks" and "Bring It On Home."

The musical entertainment takes a turn toward rock on Sunday, Aug. 31.
Megan Rüger, a Badger High School graduate and recent contestant on TV singing competition "The Voice," opens for rock supergroup Foreigner. Foreigner's 16 Top 10 hits include "Juke Box Hero," "Feels Like the First Time" and "I Want to Know What Love Is."

The traditional demolition derby rounds out the grandstand schedule on Monday, Sept. 1, with three heats throughout the afternoon and evening.

Reserved grandstand tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 3.
