Chiefs take three of four from Snappers

The Peoria Chiefs teed off on the Beloit Snappers to close out a Midwest League series Thursday afternoon.

The Chiefs scored six times in the third inning on the way to a 14-10 victory at Pohlman Field. Peoria took three of four games in Beloit, and the Snappers fell to 9-17.

Errors hurt Beloit in the critical third. Beloit starter Ronald Herrera gave up seven runsin five innings, but just two of them were earned. He fell to 2-3.

The Snappers got a home run and a double from B.A. Vollmuth, and they scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth, but the damage was done.

Outfielder Ryan Mathews took the mound in the ninth inning for Beloit and gave up one run before getting the final two outs.

Beloit opens a three-game home series against Quad Cities tonight at 6:30 p.m.
