Janesville's Feldt wins GOP caucus straw poll
JANESVILLE —Scott Feldt, Janesville resident and candidate for state treasurer, won nearly two-thirds of a 3rd Congressional District GOP straw poll vote last weekend, according to a written statement.
“It's great to have the support of so many of the people in western Wisconsin,” Feldt said in the statement. “People all across Wisconsin want an elected, accountable state treasurer as their chief financial watchdog.”
The 3rd Congressional District covers counties in southwestern Wisconsin and the cities of Menomonie, Eau Claire and La Crosse.
The caucus also passed a platform resolution calling for the preservation and empowerment of the state treasurer's office, according to the release.
Feldt has served on the Janesville School Board since 2011. He previously ran for the office of state treasurer in 2010 and was defeated by current Treasurer Kurt Schuller, who is not seeking re-election.
Feldt, a Republican, is running for the office in the November election against three Madison Democrats--Dan Bohrod, Brandon White and David Leeper, according to online records of the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board.
