Robert A. Jones, age 59, a longtime resident of Janesville, passed away Monday morning, March 10, 2014, at Alden Meadow Park Nursing Home, Clinton, following an extended illness. Bob was born Dec. 11, 1954, in Monroe, WI, the oldest child of the late Allan E. and Joanne E. (Dammen) Jones. He attended school in Janesville, and was a graduate of Janesville Parker High School, Class of 1973. He, then, attended UW-Whitewater. While in high school and in college, Bob was a member of the gymnastics teams. He worked in Quality Control, ultimately becoming a Supervisor, for Prent Co. for over 20 years. He, then, moved to Michigan in 1999, where he worked for the Huhtamaki Plastics Co. in Coleman, MI. He returned to Janesville in February 2012, due to health issues. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. He loved nothing better than spending time with his family and friends sitting around a good campfire! Bob was a past member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He also had been a member of First Lutheran Church. Bob will be remembered as a person who made lasting, lifelong friendships. He loved each and every one of his family and friends!

Bob is survived by his son, Benjamin R. Jones of Janesville; his two brothers, Richard (Kelly) Jones of Milton, WI, and Gary Jones of South Whitley, IN; his sister, Jan Hom, of Phoenix, AZ; his nieces and nephews: Lauren (Alex) Kreibich, Taylor (Isaac) Bamgbose, Aaron and Emily Jones, Brad (Ruby) Hom, and Matt Hom; his former wife and very dear friend, Sheila Butters Jones of Janesville; and by many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, with Rev. James Melvin officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date. Friends may call on Saturday from 1 until 2 P.M. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service in the Community Room of the FUNERAL HOME.

Ben and Sheila would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the wonderful staffs of UW Hospital & Clinics, the Carbone Cancer Center, Alden Meadow Park Nursing Home, and St. Jude Hospice, for the loving care and compassion shown to them and Bob during his illness.
