Ringhand announces endorsements in Senate race
EVANSVILLE—Rep. Janis Ringhand's run for the 15th Senate District seat has been endorsed by EMILY's List, Planned Parenthood and Judy Robson, her campaign announced.
Robson is a former Assembly representative and state senator from Beloit. EMILY's List is a national organization that seeks to get pro-choice Democratic women elected to public offices.
Ringhand, D-Evansville, has represented the 45th Assembly District since 2011. She is not seeking re-election to that seat but instead is running for the state Senate seat now occupied by Sen. Tim Cullen, D-Janesville. Cullen is stepping down after his term ends next January.
Ringhand is the only announced candidate for the Senate seat, although former Rep. Mike Sheridan of Janesville has indicated he is interested. If Sheridan also runs, the Democrats would face off in a primary Aug. 12. The election is Nov. 4.
