Girls basketball: Badger wins in overtime

The Lake Geneva girls basketball team worked overtime to stay in the race for the Southern Lakes Conference title.

The Badgers outscored Union Grove 9-8 in the extra four minutes to hold off the Broncos at home, 45-44, on Friday night.

Kortlyn Freeman paved the way for Badger, scoring 14 points. Lily Quinn added 9.

The game was tied 15-15 at halftime and the teams went back and forth throughout.

Sara Hartl had 16 points for Union Grove.

Badger improved to 15-3 and 9-1. It is just a half-game back of Wilmot (10-1).

Edgewood built a double-digit first-half lead and never looked back.

Sydney Harms had 11 points and Breezy Bucholtz added 10 for the Red Hawks.
