Warhawks clinch title tie

The beat goes on for UW-Whitewater's women's basketball team.

The Warhawks ran their winning streak to 12 straight Wednesday night with an 83-68 win over UW-La Crosse. Whitewater is 20-3 overall and clinched a least a share of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season title by improving to 14-0 in the league.

Katie Burton had the hot hand for Whitewate scoring 18 points. The senior guard was 6-for-6 from the field, including a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range. Kaitlyn Thill added 17 points for the Warhawks, who made 11 3-point baskets, and Reilly Stewart added 12.

The Warhawks outscored the Eagles, 24-12, at the free-throw line.

Whitewater can clinch the WIAC regular-season title with a win Saturday night at second-place UW-Oshkosh.
