Boys hoops: Konopski lifts Elkhorn over Clinton

Joe Konopski scored 23 points, including 12 in a decisive second quarter, to lead Elkhorn to a 58-50 nonconference boys basketball win over visiting Clinton on Tuesday night.

Konopski led a second-quarter charge that increased the Elks’ 14-10 first-quarter advantage to 35-21 by halftime.

Darin Anzalone chipped in 11 points and Arik Anderson added 10 as Elkhorn improved to 6-7.

Luke Risse scored 19 points and Marc Eliszewski added 11 for the Cougars (4-8).

•  Shoreland Lutheran 52, Turner 49—Freshman Alec Fruin scored 18 points for the Trojans, but they were beat from the free-throw line in a nonconference road game.

Shoreland Lutheran went to the line 23 times, while Turner got there just seven.

•  Waterford 56, Badger 44—The Wolverines pulled away little by little in the second half.

Lincoln Wiesemen and Derrick Buntrock each had 12 points for the Badgers, who fell to 2-4 in SLC play and 5-6 overal.

Waterford is 5-2 and 6-6.
