Girls basketball: Evansville tops Edgerton

Brielle Greenleaf scored 16 points, and Evansville survived a seven-point Edgerton run to start the second half to defeat the visiting Crimson Tide 53-39 in a Rock Valley North Conference girls basketball game Tuesday night.

Riley Miller added 12 points for the Blue Devils, who pulled away from a 23-all tie early in the third quarter. Evansville improved to 2-5 in the conference and 2-9 overall.

Kellan Schmidt had 13 points for Edgerton, which fell to 2-5 and 3-8.

•  Brodhead 60, Big Foot 28—The Cardinals jumped out to a 13-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back during a road victory over the Chiefs.

Carly Mohns scored 21 points for Brodhead, which is ranked No. 2 in the state in Division 3 and improved to 12-0 overall and 7-0 in the Rock Valley South. Meg Duffield and Rachel Heller added 11 points apiece.

Morgan Courier had 13 points for Big Foot, which fell to 2-6 and 1-7.

•  Turner 56, Palmyra-Eagle 44—Three players scored in double figures, and the visiting Trojans used a big fourth quarter to pull away from the Panthers.

With the game tied at 29 after three quarters, Turner outscored Palmyra-Eagle 27-15 the rest of the way.

Ashley Himmelmann scored 14 for the Trojans, while Kenzie Krizmanich had 13 and Lindsey Lauterbach 11. They improved to 3-3 in league play.

NONCONFERENCE

•  Badger 50, Tremper 36—Maria Mieres-Rey scored 22 points to lead the Badgers in a home nonconference tilt.

Badger held Tremper to just four fourth-quarter points to pull away.

Mieres-Rey hit three of the team's five 3-pointers as the Badgers improved to 9-2 on the season.
