Toshiko Marden, Brodhead, WI (1933-2014)

Toshiko Marden, age 80, of Brodhead, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Woods Crossing Nursing Home, Brodhead. She was born on Nov. 7, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of Masayuki and Aei Ito. She married Raymond A. Marden on March 18, 1952, in Tokyo. Toshiko had worked at Amrock Corp. of Rockford, and was a sales associate at Bergner’s Department Store in Janesville, for many years. She became a citizen of the United States on April 20, 1962. Toshiko was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brodhead. She was a talented seamstress, enjoying quilting, needlework, cooking, reading, movies, traveling, and especially being around people.
Toshiko is survived by her husband, Raymond A. Marden of Tomah, WI; a son, Ray (Martha) Marden, Jr. of Janesville; a daughter, Rosemary Marden and son-in-law, Michael Plantz of Stoughton; a sister, Kinuko Ostseika of Osaka, Japan; a brother, Yukio Ito of Tokyo; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Laura in 1989; and a sister, Masa-Aei.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at the BETHLEHEM LUTHERAN CHURCH, Brodhead, with Pastor Peder Johanson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead.
