Your Views: More of us must love fellow human beings

I like the new pope because he stated, “Who am I to judge?”

I am a nonreligious person. I try to follow the one and only truth—love your fellow human beings! I wish every religious leader would preach that.

God does not care how you dress, wear your hair or if you like to gamble. That is why he gave us free will to worship in any way we want, as long as we do not kill in his name.

Every religion says God is love. The people who kill in the name of God are anti-God and are blasphemers. We should not say I am a Christian, Muslim or whatever religion you follow; say, “I am one of God’s children; I believe in love, not hate, but I will protect the ones I love.”

We are not to judge by our standards but by God’s, and if God is love, then we must accept love as our standard. The people who say you are going to hell if you do not follow our laws, rules and beliefs are the ones who will kill in God’s name.

Steven Weinberg wrote “With or without religion, you have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things but for good people to do evil things: that takes a religion.”

We have to stop this stupidity if we want to leave a better world for future generations. Let’s hope that will happen soon.
