Southern Lakes girls roundup: Lake Geneva wins blowout

The Lake Geneva Badger girls basketball team outscored Burlington 16-4 in the second quarter before pulling away from a 53-30 Southern Lakes Conference home victory on Friday night.

Maria Mieres-Rey scored a game-high 15 points and Lily Quinn added 14 more for the Badgers.

Ellen Stang led Burlington with nine points.

Badger moved to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in league play with the victory.

• Union Grove 45, Elkhorn 39—Alex Goodrich scored 14 points and Jordan Weidner added 13 as the Broncos got the road win over the Elks.

Erin Schahczinski led all scorers with 22 points for Elkhorn, which outscored Union Grove in the fourth quarter but couldn’t pull off the comeback.
