Lake Geneva man charged with 10 counts of child pornography waives preliminary hearing
ELKHORN — James A. Tewinkle said he suffered from an anxiety attack before he appeared in court Monday afternoon and waived his preliminary hearing.
Tewinkle, 27, of 1361 Elkhorn Road, Apt. 8, Lake Geneva, is charged with 10 felony counts of possession of child pornography.
In court, Tewinkle told the judge his eyes were foggy but he understood he was waiving his right to a preliminary hearing.
“I just took my anxiety meds … but I'm pretty sure I got it right,” Tewinkle said.
Tewinkle was arrested Dec. 12 after Wisconsin Department of Justice officials searched the hard drive on a computer at his apartment, according to the criminal complaint.
Officials found more than 1,000 movies and images suspected of being child pornography on Tewinkle's hard drive. Ten of the movies and images are described as having underage females engaging in sexual acts with males, according to the complaint.
He admitted to searching for and possessing child pornography, according to the complaint.
Tewinkle is due back in court Tuesday, Jan. 21 at the Walworth County Judicial Center.
