The Janesville Bluebirds wasted little time Thursday night disposing of the Madison East/La Follette co-op team.

Janesville’s high school boys co-op hockey team scored eight goals in the first period and coasted to a 14-0 Big Eight Conference win.

The Bluebirds got two goals each from Jack MacDougall, Sam Iverson and Seth France in improving to 5-3-1 overall, including 2-2-1 in the Big Eight.

“We played very unselfish tonight with a lot of short shifts,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “The guys did a great job of rotating in and out quickly and passing the puck.

“East/La Follette is really down, but our guys did what we asked of them and didn’t rub it in. We didn’t score in the third period.”

Janesville hosts Stoughton in a nonconference game at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
