Your Views: City police could patrol, ticket sidewalk slackers
Year after year, same old, same old: “Shovel your walk.” The problem here is that not everyone gets a Gazette.
Years ago when I was a paperboy, seems like everyone got a paper. Not so today. So now, many people don’t know that by not cleaning off their walks, they are breaking the law.
How many of you know anyone who has ever gotten a bill from the city because they didn’t clean off their walk?
Most people don’t call in on their neighbors; these are people they know and like. So, 12 hours after a snowfall, why can’t the city have a few squad cars go out in the neighborhoods and check on walks that haven’t been cleaned off and write a few tickets?
Perhaps then people would take notice and clean their walks.
