Craig, Parker boys basketball teams fall

Mount Horeb’s boys basketball team proved why its state-rated.

The unbeaten Vikings made five 3-point baskets in the third quarter in pulling away for a 65-46 nonconference win over Janesville Craig on Tuesday night.

Craig (5-3) trailed by three at half but was outscored 21-8 in the third.

Isaiah Lesure and Quinn Lesar scored 13 points each for Mount Horeb, which improved to 5-0 on the season.

Jerry Ngobi had 12 points to lead Craig, and Nolan Maresch added 10.

Craig hosts Beloit Memorial on Friday night in a Big Eight Conference game.

Monroe 73, Parker 38--Monroe High jumped ahead of visiting Janesville Parker from the start and didn’t let up during a convincing 73-38 nonconference boys basketball victory Tuesday night.

Playing without leading scorer J.J. Scott, the Vikings trailed 43-14 at halftime while falling to 2-5.

“We came out and missed some easy shots and they couldn’t miss,” Parker coach Ryan Masterson said. “We fell behind and couldn’t right the ship.”

Charles Kind had 17 points and Jake Hirsbrunner added 16 for the Cheesemakers.

“We weren’t moving on offense and on defense left them too many open looks,” Masterson said.

Masterson was impressed with the effort of the players that came off the bench.

Senior guard Adam Thompson scored 11 points to lead the Vikings.

Parker plays at Madison East in a Big Eight Conference game Friday night.
