SLC boys hoops: Elkhorn's comeback bid comes up short

Elkhorn clawed nearly all the way back from a double-digit halftime deficit, but couldn’t overcome Union Grove, which won 56-45 on the road in Southern Lakes Conference boys basketball on Friday night.

The Elks trailed by 12 at halftime but fought back to within four points with about four and a half minutes left.

The Broncos held Elkhorn without a bucked for three minutes at that point and pulled away for the victory.

Andrew Kazikowski led Union Grove (6-1 overall, 3-0 SLC) with 14 points. Aaron Wales scored a game-high 18 for the Elks (2-3, 1-2).

• Waterford 48, Delavan-Darien 43—The Comets had a shot to take the lead with nine seconds left but only drew back iron.

On the ensuing possession, they were whistled on the wrong end of a tossup call between a jump ball and a foul, and the Wolverines held on for a home victory.

Isaac Ramos led the Comets (0-6, 0-4) with 13 points. Trace Hunsucker had 20 for Waterford.

• Burlington 68, Badger 56—The Demons scored 31 points in the fourth quarter to pull away in what was a tie game after three periods.

Ben Geiger posted a game-high 23 points for Burlington. Jake Berhorst had 19 for the Badgers (4-3, 2-2).
