Cougars, Vikings win Big Eight girls hoops games

Janesville Parker’s offense erupted in the second half of a Big Eight Conference girls basketball game at Beloit Memorial on Tuesday night.

Paige Smith scored a game-high 27 points, and the Vikings turned a one-point halftime cushion into a 67-40 road rout of the Purple Knights.

Parker led just 26-25 at the break, but the Vikings allowed just 15 second-half points—seven in the third quarter and eight in the fourth.

Smith, a junior, was the only player in double figures. Bree Porter added nine points for the Vikings, while Kaitlyn Foster had eight.

Sherriah Anderson led the Knights with nine.

Parker hosts Madison East on Friday night, while Beloit travels to Janesville Craig.

Craig 57, Sun Prairie 48--Janesville Craig’s girls basketball team got defensive Tuesday night.

The Cougars limited visiting Sun Prairie to 19 points in the second half in pulling away for a Big Eight Conference win.

Craig (3-1, 2-1) trailed by two at half but outscored the Cardinals 30-19 in the second half.

Al Hughes led the way for Craig. The junior scored a game-high 20 points, including four 3-point baskets. Sophomore Anne Schumacher added 14 points for the Cougars.

Craig hosts Beloit Memorial on Friday night.
