The Burlington Christmas Parade kicks off a busy weekend with its 32nd annual parade at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.

The parade begins at Kane Street and Chandler Boulevard and travels throughout downtown Burlington. The theme is “A Storybook Christmas” and floats compete for best-decorated honors, said Jan Ludtke, executive director of the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce.

“Many businesses, churches and Scout troops decorate a float each year,” Ludtke said.

Besides the floats, the parade also will feature music groups, local organizations and several special guests.

“The Door County sled dogs will be back, as well as live reindeer, so they will lead off the parade,” she said. “Of course, Santa Claus will be there ... It's definitely a festive parade with a lot of local celebrities and celebrities from out of the area, such as Bernie Brewer and the racing sausages from the Milwaukee Brewers.”

Officials have been planning for the parade since August.
