ETER offering rides on the Christmas Express Train
What: The East Troy Electric Railroad celebrates the 41st anniversary of the Christmas Train as St. Nick and Mrs. Claus ride the rails and welcome the holiday season in a style unique to southern Wisconsin. Guests will board meticulously restored Chicago South Shore & south Bend Railroad cars, originally built in the 1940s, for the 10-mile round trip along the century-old interurban trolley line linking East Troy to Mukwonago. The heated Pullman cars will be decorated for the event, which features caroling, story reading and a special visit by Santa, Mrs. Claus and cheery elves.
When: Saturday, Nov. 30, Dec. 7, Dec. 14 & Sunday, Dec. 1, Dec. 8, Dec. 15. Train departs the historic East Troy depot at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.

History: The original East Troy Christmas Parade train, started by the East Troy Jaycees and the railroad in 1972, was a historic reproduction of the Schuster's Christmas Parade in Milwaukee.The Schuster's Department store chain sponsored the parade, established in 1928, to kick-off the Christmas shopping season.The parade disappeared in 1955 with the demise of the Milwaukee Electric Lines interurban and streetcar system.
