The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is fining the firm that runs an East Troy recycling plant for not protecting its workers, according to a story in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Strategic Materials Inc., a glass and plastics recycling firm based in Houston, was cited by OSHA for problems at the plant located at 2728 Buell Drive in East Troy that included exposing employees to airborne particulates beyond an acceptable level, failing to monitor lead exposure, and failing to have a proper respiratory program in place. The OSHA fines total $82,000.

A regional manager from Strategic Materials said the firm will contest the citation.
