For the fifth year, area law enforcement officials are making sure the doors stay closed to any trick-or-treaters on Halloween at the homes of any registered sex offenders through a program known as “Operation Trick or Treat.”

During October 31 and other Halloween trick-or-treat dates in communities around Walworth County, participating police departments, the Walworth County Sheriff's Office and probation and parole officers will be making home visits at the residences of known sex offenders who are on active supervision to ensure they are complying with applicable laws and rules, according to a release from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.

Any sex offenders who are found to be in violation of the terms of their supervision will face sanctions which may include incarceration in jail or prison.
