Isaiah Shell turned Whitewater's glee into doom in a matter of seconds Friday night.

The Evansville High standout returned a kickoff 77 yards for the tying touchdown, and Toby Engenmann booted the game-winning extra point to lift Evansville to a 21-20 Rock Valley North victory Friday night.

Shell's return with 2:07 left in the game came moments after Whitewater had gone ahead, 20-14, on quarterback Scott Gorsuch's six-yard run. The Whippets' two-point conversion attempt failed, setting up Shell and Engenmann's heroics.

The Whippets outgained the visiting Blue Devils, 319-188. Jordan Peterson scored twice for Whitewater on runs of 2 and 7 yards. Peterson finished with 128 yards on 19 carries.

Evansville hosts Jefferson on Friday.
