I strongly disagree with Mr. Redmer’s Sept. 18 opinion regarding Parkview, and I invite him to visit our district.

Parkview graduates regularly enroll at and graduate from UW-Madison and most other UW universities, to name a few. We have proudly contributed to numerous PhD’s, master’s, bachelor’s, associates and technical graduates among our alumni.

Our 1:1 iPad initiative is an example of our innovation, creativity and progressive nature. Our students recently received iPads to complete coursework and conduct research, and by mid-November all junior and senior high students will be using these devices. Innovative curriculum, technology and meeting the needs of each student are commonplace throughout our district. Online coursework to enhance our curriculum is also readily available.

I would like to point out a few recent successes in which Parkview is proud. U.S. News and World Report awarded Bronze awards to Parkview High School for 2011-12 and 2012-13. The 2013 graduates exceeded the state average by 2 percent in college readiness based on ACT scores.

Parkview also has numerous extracurricular success stories. During 2013-14, six Destination Imagination teams competed at state. Students finished first or second at the regional speech contest and first in the regional math competition. The jazz band took first at state solo ensemble. The musical was awarded first-place Tommy Awards in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The baseball team took second at state in 2013. The Pom Squad qualified for state this year, and two wrestlers competed at state.
