JANESVILLE—A Janesville native was the story at the Janesville Parker girls golf invitational Saturday.

Sienna Chapman, who was born in Janesville and moved to Racine when she was 4, shot a 1-under-par 70 for Racine Prairie High School to win the individual title at Riverside Golf Course. Caroline Lake of Madison Edgewood fired an even-par 71 to finish second and Verona’s Jessica Reinecke was third with a 1-over 72.

Verona won the team title with a 315 total, 1-shot better than Middleton. Host Parker was fifth at 339, Milton seventh at 345 and Janesville Craig 16th with a 396 total.

Milton’s Maddie McCue topped the area finishers with a 75 and a sixth-place finish. Parker’s Micayla Richards was seventh after a school-record tying round of 76.

Chapman began her day with a birdie on her first hole and finished 3-under on the back nine with birdies at 14, 15, and 18.

“I love this course,” said Chapman, a senior who will play golf at Brown University next fall. “I’ve had success here before and played well again today. I made a couple up-and-downs to save par and putted pretty well.”

Chapman’s 1-under par round was her second-best at Riverside after carding a 68 in a PGA Junior Tournament two years ago.

Richards had a chance to break teammate Taylor Wyss’ school-record round of 76 set earlier this season but missed a birdie putt on No. 18 that would’ve given her a 75.

“That putt didn’t go in, but my putting actually saved me today,” Richards said. “I’ve been working hard on my game and it’s paying off.”

Craig, led by Maggie Stewart, broke 400 as a team for the first time this season.
