Rock County Rage to play for league title

MILTON—The Rock Country Rage won the American Football Conference title Saturday and will play for the Ironman Football League championship next Saturday night.

The Rage defeated the Southern Lakes Blue Devils, 21-6, here Saturday night to advance to the league championship game.

Dan Roberts, in his first game back after suffering a leg injury earlier this season, led the Rock County offense, while Nick Hammon led the defensive effort.

Roberts completed five of 16 passes for 180 yards, which included a 40-yard scoring pass to Trey Shaw. Roberts also rushed 14 times for 89 yards.

Jermar Ayers caught two passes for 123 yards.

Hammon returned a fumble 39 yards for Rock County’s first touchdown, and then sacked the Southern Lakes quarterback for a safety in the third quarter.

Hammon had six sacks, forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles.

Greg Davis added five other sacks, as the Rage defense had 15 sacks.

Titus Jackson and David Byerley each had an interception.

The IFL league championship will be held at Hart Park in Wauwatosa starting at 7 p.m. next Saturday. The Rage plays the Milwaukee Hurricanes for the championship. Rock County defeated Milwaukee, 55-0, earlier this season.
