New board member named at foundation
JANESVILLE — Larry Barton of Janesville has joined the board of directors of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin. Barton is a semi-retired attorney who has practiced law in Janesville since 1969.
Barton has a long history of community service. He was a founder of the Janesville Morning Rotary Club and has served on the boards of the Janesville YMCA and ECHO. Barton currently serves on the Janesville Police and Fire Commission and is a member of the board of directors of the UW-Rock County Foundation.
Barton is one of six Rock County representatives on the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin Board of Directors. The other representatives are Steve Sheiffer, retired Janesville city manager; Steve Olsen, vice president of First National Bank & Trust, Beloit; Laura Carney, nurse practitioner at Whitewater Family Practice; Carol Hatch, attorney with Nowlan & Mouat; and Joe Nemeth, chief operating officer at MercyCare Health Plans.
The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin works to bring charitable donors together with the needs of their communities in nine southern Wisconsin counties.
