DARIEN — Nick Dattilo wouldn't divulge his age, but it's safe to say that he is a big kid at heart. And music is at the heart of his professional career.

The Kenosha native follows the county fair and festival season circuits with his Nick's Kids Show, a free-wheeling entertainment program that fuses singing, dancing and, of course, plenty of fun.

One of Dattilo's three show units is scheduled to take the Miller Lite Stage at the 53rd annual Darien Cornfest celebration, with performances set for 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, and 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.

Dattilo won't be in Darien, but he will be conducting three to five shows daily at the Walworth County Fair in Elkhorn.

“Each lasts about 30 minutes, and they're all interactive shows in which we have instruments such as drums, guitars and piano, and we ask for volunteers from the audience and get the kids involved,” said Dattilo, whose wife, Kim, runs sound and everything backstage for his shows. “I sing all of the songs, but we get the kids to do 'Locomotion' and dance in a train, or I have all of the head gear and we do 'YMCA.' I'm the director, but the kids are the real stars.”
